ERIC recently discovered that there was sensitive personal information being distributed in some of the documents they are hosting. Because of this, they are checking all of the documents by hand before opening them to public access again. If there is a document you would like to access that is not available you have two options:

  • Place an interlibrary loan request through ILLiad and let us to the work getting you the document.
  • Email ERICRequests@ed.gov with the record number (such as ED263102) to request a PDF be returned online.

ERIC anticipates that this project will be done by the end of October, 2012. If you are reading this answer after that point you may be encountering a different issue and should feel welcome to contact us for assistance.

  1. It is almost December 2012 and I am having the same issue. I can't access any ERIC full text doc. in my search results. The link from here takes me to their home page with the message about them checking all documents. I was going to just make a request from them, but the wait time is 6-10 WEEKS!! :| I am not sure but that sounds like they won't be done soon.

  2. It is frustrating how ERIC has handled this situation and it is to clear how it is being managed. In some cases you might be able to access the documents on our microfilm collections. When that is not the case, or if you are a student in an off-campus program, you can place requests for articles through ILLiad, which should be a lot faster than ERIC's service. You can get to ILLiad here: https://www.illiad.library.wwu.edu/ILLiad/logon.html
