In APA style, use the DOI whenever possible. If no DOI is present, it is OK to include the URL instead.

DOI's are unique identifiers that create a persistent link to online content. In the reference entry, they are the last element and should be formatted as hyperlinks, for example:

Domgaard, S., Park, M. (2021). Combating misinformation: The effects of infographics in verifying false vaccine news. Health Education Journal. 80(8), 974-986. https://doi.org/10.1177/00178969211038750

When accessing articles through library databases and online journal subscriptions, the DOI link provided might include EZ Proxy information unique to WWU students and faculty. For example:

https://doi-org.ezproxy.library.wwu.edu/10.1177/00178969211038750

Do NOT include EZ Proxy information in the reference entry. To revise this DOI link, copy and paste the number string to the end of this web address: https://doi.org/xxxxx (the x part refers to the number string). So, in this case it would like this: https://doi.org/10.1177/00178969211038750
