PubMed is an example of a a database that indexes a number of articles that are presented online before being officially published. 

 

The basic format for an article that is first published online is:

Author Last Name, First initial. (Year). Article title. Journal Name, the notation Advance online publication, Volume(Issue), pp. Page(s). doi:# or Retrieved from URL
