Q. What is the Threshold Project?

The Threshold Project is an initiative of the Orbis Cascade Alliance. The goal is to increase the overall book collection of the Alliance by having individual libraries spend more of their book funds on unique items. When a library goes to make a book purchase, they will first check Summit (Alliance) holdings; if three or more Alliance libraries already own circulating copies, the library may voluntarily choose not to order the book (if a book is needed for course reserves, for instance, then the library would order the book regardless of Alliance holdings).
