Speak formatting at cursor location:

  • Press INSERT+F to hear the font, size, color, and paragraph formatting at the cursor location.
  • Press INSERT+F twice quickly to show the information in the JAWS virtual viewer where it can be read using the arrow keys. Press ESC to close the viewer.

Adjust JAWS punctuation verbosity level:

  • Press INSERT+V and start typing in the word punctuation.
  • Down arrow to the punctuation setting and press SPACE to cycle through the different options: none, some, most, and all.
  • Once the desired level is reached, press TAB to the “okay” button and press ENTER.

Use the JAWS text analyzer to find spelling, grammar, punctuation and spacing inconsistencies in a document:

  • Press INSERT+V to open JAWS quick settings, and type the words text analyzer and down arrow to the text analyzer setting.
  • Press SPACE until it says “describe inconsistencies”, then TAB to the “okay” button and press ENTER. JAWS will now announce spelling, grammar, punctuation and spacing inconsistencies when reading the document.
  • The keystroke ALT+WINDOWS+I can be used to move to the next inconsistency, SHIFT+ALT+WINDOWS+I to move to the previous one. (Note: this keystroke works, even with text analyzer turned off.)
  • To turn off text analyzer, repeat the first two steps, pressing SPACE until it says “off”.
